The Opportunity  
We are looking for an accomplished Vice President to join our Group Risk team as part of our financial services business in Grand Cayman. 
  
The Vice President will work closely with the Senior Vice President and senior/executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk and develop risk management strategies across Maples Group globally, covering both our financial services and legal business lines.

As part of our Cayman team you will:  
  
  • Working with the Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer and other senior team members to enhance and execute the enterprise risk management framework; supporting the development and implementation of the Group Risk framework, policies, and procedures, and ensure alignment with the Maples Group's strategy, objectives, and values  
  • Engaging actively with colleagues across all lines of defence in identifying and managing risk and validating the efficacy of controls 
  • Conduct risk assessments and analysis to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities across Maples Group, and provide risk advice and recommendations to senior management and business units  
  • Monitor and report on the risk profile, appetite, and limits of Maples Group, and escalate any risk issues or breaches to the appropriate level  
  • Monitor and analyse risk metrics, risk trends ad indicators to ensure proactive risk management 
  • Collaborate on the use of AI and technology platforms to automate, streamline, and enhance risk management processes, data, and reporting, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement  
  • Maintain awareness of the external risk environment, including emerging risks, best practices, and regulatory developments, and assess their impact and implications for the Maples Group  
  • Foster a risk-aware and risk-resilient culture across the Maples Group, and provide risk training and awareness to staff and stakeholders  
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other risk functions, business units, and external stakeholders, and build strong relationships and trust  
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and maturation of the Group Risk function, and support the Senior Vice President of Group Risk in delivering the risk strategy and vision  
  
What You Bring  
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:    
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in risk management, preferably in the legal services industry or the financial services industry (e.g. fiduciary, fund administration, etc.)  
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various types of risks and risk management frameworks, methodologies, and tools  
  • Experience or interest in AI and technology platforms for risk management, and ability to learn and adapt to new systems and applications  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and ability to provide risk advice and recommendations based on sound judgment and evidence  
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate complex risk information clearly and concisely to different audiences and levels  
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethics, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information  
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible, and ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, and ability to deliver results within deadlines and under pressure  
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work across different time zones and jurisdictions
